If you are able, we highly recommend saving up miles which can help to reduce the cost of international airfare. Ground transportation is another important consideration and ranges depending on your choice between train, car, or private transfer.

The one case where tipping is considered appropriate is for car services. The appropriate amount to tip is 10% for any private transfers or taxis in Italy. Your Stay

The wedding events will take place in a private Renaissance estate that we’ve booked out for our many festivities. A complimentary suite is reserved for every guest at our villa for the four nights of our wedding celebration. We ask that you plan to stay at the villa for all four nights of the wedding so that we can all be together.

The villa operates on a full buy-out basis only. If you are choosing to extend your stay in Italy before/after our days together, you are welcome to do so, but you will need to find other accommodation.

The villa

In the rolling nature of the Tuscan countryside, just 20 minutes from the center of Florence sits Dimora Ghirlandaio, nestled on the historic Chianti Colle Ramole. This magnificent Renaissance hamlet has offered a setting of unparalleled beauty for centuries.

Since the 15th century, the villa has been the favorite residence of the "Ghirlandaio" painters. Such preference went from Domenico Ghirlandaio, one of the artists preferred by Michelangelo's patron, Lorenzo the Magnificent, to Domenico’s son, Ridolfo Ghirlandaio, a friend and inspiration to the painter Raffael. Summed up in the immortal words of Giorgio Vasari, “You should never turn down an invitation to the family home in Colle Ramole.”

Today, Dimora Ghirlandaio shines once again thanks to the skillful restoration work commissioned by the Cecchi family, who has owned the hamlet since 2010. The result is an extraordinary place where the charm and art of the past meet contemporary comfort. Inside the hamlet, five villas reside on the grounds, including traditional Italian gardens, a pool of 150 square meters, a refined wellness center, a private restaurant, and a magnificent olive grove that gives light to the extremely pure PGI extra virgin olive oil. The hamlet’s exclusive pearl is the famous "Ghirlandaio Chapel", built by Ridolfo Ghirlandaio in tribute to his lineage and decorated internally with his original frescoes.

Rainfall is moderate, so it's advisable to prepare for occasional showers. We will be checking the weather closer to the event and will share details before most guests travel.
  • Will the wedding events be indoors or outdoors?
Weather permitting, we are planning to host most events outside under the beautiful, Tuscan sky. Events indoors will be noted in the itinerary. We will also have a fully covered back-up plan for all events in the case of poor weather.
  • What time should I plan to arrive to the ceremony?
Please plan to arrive at the ceremony location 15-20 minutes before the start to allow ample time to get settled.
  • Will the ceremony and reception be outdoors?
Yes. Weather permitting the ceremony and reception will be held outdoors. In the event of inclement weather, these events will be moved indoors.
  • What health and safety measures will be in place?
Everyone’s health and safety is one of our top priorities. We will have hand sanitizer in every villa and many of our events will be hosted outdoors (weather permitting). If you feel unwell, please inform us immediately and we will assist you accordingly.
  • Am I allowed to take photos at the ceremony?
We would love for you to capture memories of our special day and events before/after! However, we kindly ask that you refrain from taking photos during the ceremony. There will be plenty of opportunities for photos during the reception and other events. We will also have a wonderful and talented photographer for our entire event. Professional photographs will be shared via email 6-8 weeks after the wedding.
  • When and how do I pick which activities I want to do?
For our hosted activities on Friday, May 22nd, we will be in touch closer to the event start time with more information about each activity. We will ask you to confirm which you and your party would like to do via email and make arrangements on your behalf.
  • Do you have suggested activities for our day in Florence?
Absolutely! Florence is a treasure trove of history and culture. We recommend visiting the Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo, and Ponte Vecchio. For a beautiful panoramic view, head to Piazzale Michelangelo. Don't forget to stroll through the Boboli Gardens and enjoy some gelato at Gelateria dei Neri.
  • Do you have a gift registry?
Your presence at this special celebration is the greatest present we could ask for. We appreciate the effort involved in joining us for our wedding overseas, so please, no gifts.
  • Can I bring a wedding present?
We appreciate the thought but ask that our guests refrain from bringing any gifts to the wedding.
